Q: How would you train employees on using an MSDS?

Lab Safety Advisor, October 17, 2006

A: Within ten days of employment, or when a new hazardous chemical is introduced, each employee should be informed of the location of the MSDS. They should look up the chemical in the MSDS book or online if an electronic MSDS system is used.

Employees should be able to locate specific information on the MSDS such as the physical hazard, health hazard, what to do if the chemical comes into contact due to a spray or splash, and how to clean up a spill.
