Former employee arrested on weapons charges
LTC Liability Monitor, October 11, 2006
A former Ossining, NY, nursing home employee, who was fired after allegedly threatening to shoot coworkers, has been arrested on six felony weapons counts, reported the Associated Press (AP). Police found six semiautomatic assault rifles, thousands of rounds of ammunition, two bulletproof vests, and various related items in the former employee's car on Sunday. The employee worked as a housekeeper at the facility for 25 years. After some criticism of his work, the employee threatened to shoot coworkers. The facility responded by calling police, firing the employee, and having the nursing home guarded around the clock for 10 days, according to the AP.
