Fire extinguisher training
Lab Safety Advisor, October 10, 2006
Fire extinguisher training is always a cause for concern since the laboratory may have a difficult time finding a location to conduct the inservice. Here are some suggestions:
- Schedule an inservice with your local fire department
- Use a fire box in an open area outside to start the fire for extinguisher practice
- Practice wtih a CO2 extinguisherâ?"it can be used inside if absolutely necessary to give employees practice without actually having to put out a real fire
Regardless of how the task is accomplished, be sure to document the training.
