Nursing home employee steals from resident
LTC Liability Monitor, October 4, 2006
A former Euclid, OH, nursing home office worker could face grand theft and other charges after she admitted to writing thousands of dollars in checks against a resident's fund, reported The Plain Dealer (OH). Nursing home administrators contacted police about the missing money in March, according to a police report. No one has been arrested or charged in the case. The former employee-an accounts receivable clerk-issued, signed, and cashed at least four checks in January and February totaling $48,404.57. The clerk confessed to the nursing home's head administrator after she was confronted about returned checks, according to the police report.
