Warm linen starts nursing home fire
LTC Liability Monitor, October 4, 2006
Nursing homes should make efforts to ensure the temperature coming from their laundry equipment isn't too hot. Recently, one nursing home in England saw the consequences of excessively hot temperatures. Heat generated by a pile of freshly pressed linen started a fire in a nursing home cupboard in Louth, UK, reported Louth Today, UK. Firefighters were called to the facility and found that linen and wooden slats in the cupboard were damaged in the fire, and the cupboard itself was damaged by the smoke. Some residents had to be evacuated but none were injured, according to Louth Today, UK.
