Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, September 29, 2006

Most adults say they would like to have access to online medical records and other electronic means of communicating medical information, according to a Wall Street Journal Online/Harris Interactive poll of 2,624 adults. If given a choice between a doctor who provides such services and one who does not, more than half of those surveyed said it would influence their choice, according to the poll results.

Key findings of the poll include:

· 77% of adults want reminders via e-mail from their doctors when they are due for a visit or some type of medical care

· 75% of adults want the ability to schedule an appointment online

· 74% would like to use e-mail to communicate directly with their doctor
