The CDC announces HIV screening changes
Infection Control Monitor, September 29, 2006
The CDChas eleased new recommendations for HIV screening of all hospital patients.
The major revisions include the following:
- Healthcare facilities should offer HIV screening for patients unless the patients decline
- People at high risk for HIV infection should undergo screening at least annually
- General consent for medical care should be sufficient to also consent for HIV testing
