Guide assists in dementia care during emergencies
LTC Liability Monitor, September 20, 2006
A new guide offers advice on providing care for people with dementia during emergencies, such as a major disease outbreak, hurricane, or fire, announced the American Health Care Association. Released by a coalition of long-term care and consumer organizations, the guide's care practices are for non-licensed staff of nursing facilities, assisted living residences, or other residential care settings as well as lay people, such as volunteers, who may become involved more directly in caregiving during an emergency.
