IOM: Avoid medical errors with electronic prescriptions
E-Health Trend Watch, September 15, 2006
An Institute of Medicine report recommends that all prescribers and pharmacies manage prescriptions electronically by 2010 in an effort to avoid medication errors. The study estimates that 1.5 million U.S. patients are harmed every year by medication errors that could have been prevented by IT and patient education.
