Administrator of CMS to resign in October
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, September 13, 2006
Mark B. McClellan, MD, PhD, who has served as the administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for more than two years, announced his intention to resign from the position in October, according to a story in ACS NewsScope, a weekly news update from the American College of Surgeons.
McClellan's possible successors include Leslie V. Norwalk, deputy administrator of CMS; Herb Kuhn, director of the agency's Center for Medicare Management; and Julie Goon, special assistant to President Bush and former director of Medicare outreach at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), according to the story.
