Milestone for Henry Ford Medical Group's e-scripts

Henry Ford Medical Group of Detroit has filled more than 1 million prescriptions electronically since it launched a program in 2005 at the request of American automakers to cut costs by boosting the use of generic drugs. The 17-month old e-prescribing system also flags potential errors, and the medical group reports that it has saved lives and money by helping doctors to avoid dangerous drug complications and by increasing the use of generic and low-cost prescriptions.
