Former nursing home owner indicted
LTC Liability Monitor, September 6, 2006
The former operator of a Kentucky nursing home was indicted last week in connection with more than $16,000 in missing funds, reported the Cincinnati (OH) Post. A Franklin County, KY, grand jury indicted the former operator on two counts of failure to make a required disposition of property. The money in question was paid to the nursing home, via a local hospice agency, to reimburse the home for patient care, according to the assistant Kentucky attorney general. The former owner was supposed to deposit all of the business income into a particular account and to get court approval before she spent it. Her obligation to get court approval for spending the money stemmed from a lawsuit filed over problems with patient care at the home, according to the Post.
