Quest for Breath benefits IPF patients
Respiratory Care Weekly, September 6, 2006
A new fundraising initiative called Quest for Breath seeks to support research on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), according to a press release. Launched by a 37-year-old IPF patient, the program is affiliated with the University of Michigan Health System. The first Quest for Breath event is a 5K walk/run on October 15 in Ann Arbor to benefit the Martin Edward Galvin Fund for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Research, named after the organizer's father.
"Because this disease has no cure, it's very important, especially when the government is funding less research, to pour efforts into raising money to jumpstart this research," says Galvin, of Troy, MI, whose father as well as an aunt, uncle, and grandmother died from the disease.
RTs interested in supporting the initiative or putting on fundraising events in their cities can click here www.questforbreath.org for more information.
