APTA expresses concerns over reduced Medicare payments
Rehab Private Practice Alert, August 30, 2006
The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) submitted comments to CMS last week stating the association's desire for a five-year review of work relative value units under Medicare's physician fee schedule, reported PT Bulletin Online.
APTA told CMS that it was concerned that the proposed cuts for 2007 are drastic and could be as much as 10% for physical therapists and other healthcare professionals.
APTA recommended that CMS should phase in the work values over a multi-year period to take into account the changes in the calculation of practice expenses, according to PT Bulletin Online.
