The federal agencies assigned the responsibility of data collection are
- The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which oversees Medicare
- The Defense Department, which oversees healthcare for the military
- The Veterans Affairs Department, which oversees the Federal Employees Health Benefit Program (FEHBP)
- The Office of Personnel Management, which also oversees the FEHBP
