Negligence and breach of duty suit filed

The guardian of a St. Charles, IL, nursing home resident filed a lawsuit against the nursing home and a former employee, seeking more than $200,000 in damages over alleged negligence and breach of duty, reported The Courier News. The eight-count lawsuit, alleges that a former employee stole $214,548 over a two-year period when he was assisting the resident with her finances. The plaintiff's financial institutions are also named in the suit, alleging that funds were wrongfully withdrawn on checks that were not signed or authorized by the resident. The lawsuit accuses the nursing home of negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and receiving money, including unauthorized loans, according to The Courier News.
