Senator pleased with end to specialty hospital moratorium
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, August 22, 2006
Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID) issued a statement in support of CMS lifting the ban on the construction and development of specialty hospitals.
The moratorium ended when the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued its final Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 report August 8.
"It's about time we put a moratorium on this moratorium," said Crapo in the statement. "For too long, physicians and patients have been thwarted in their efforts to seek high-quality healthcare with high-quality outcomes. I support a level playing field and competition for all hospitals that result in more efficient and effective care for patients-this decision by CMS will promote this move toward healthcare excellence."
