McKesson acquires RelayHealth
E-Health Trend Watch, August 18, 2006
McKesson Corp. of San Francisco has acquired RelayHealth Corp. of Emeryville, CA, for undisclosed terms. McKesson is the world's largest healthcare IT and automation supplier, with products in 65% of U.S. health systems. It is the company's second acquisition in the area of physician-patient communications. McKesson plans to form a personal health solutions group backed by the acquisition to market interactive consumer technologies (e.g., personal health records and healthcare financial management tools). RelayHealth contracts with several BlueCross and BlueShield plans to support online physician-patient communications.
