ChoiceMedia changes name, launches 25 health-specific sites
Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, August 18, 2006
A suite of consumer oriented health & wellness Websites formerly known as ChoiceMedia, Inc., will now be called The HealthCentral Network, according to the Arlington, VA-based company. The company also launched 25 new health-specific Web sites, including www.MyDiabetesCentral.com and www.MyDepressionConnection.com. The sites offer general health information and news, condition-specific information, and patient-to-patient and patient-to-physician health forums.
Meanwhile, another online health information giant, WebMD Health Corp. of New York City, has agreed to acquire the medical-education, promotion, and physician-recruitment business of Medsite of New York. The $41 million cash deal is expected to close during the third quarter. Medsite works with more than 60 pharmaceutical, medical-device, and healthcare companies to support their physician-directed marketing efforts.
