NBCOT clarifies rules for international OTs
Rehab Private Practice Alert, August 9, 2006
The National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) recently expanded and clarified its rules for internationally prepared OTs working in the United States, according to the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
NBCOT, the national certification body for OTs in the United States, gives internationally educated therapists two options for approval of their training programs.
OTs must either graduate from an OT educational program recognized by NBCOT at a postbaccalaureate degree level or graduate from an accredited OT educational program recognized by NBCOT and present evidence the preparation is equivalent to American standards, AOTA reported.
