Computerized records help UNC doctors treat patients

E-Health Trend Watch, August 4, 2006

The Chapel Hill-based University of North Carolina (UNC) Health Care System has deployed a Web-based interoperable health record system that lets 7,000 caregivers access medical data for more than one million patient visits annually.

UNC Health Care's 2,000 physicians can access patient data from their homes and offices. The data include lab reports, medical imaging, scheduling, disease prevention applications, and patients' hospital progress notes.
