Florida creates online system to help healthcare after storms

E-Health Trend Watch, August 4, 2006

Florida has set up an Internet-based system that allows hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities to stay in contact with state officials to report on their conditions during a disaster and seek help if needed. The state is attempting to improve its response after a hurricane.

The new Emergency Status System will help the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration collect information and assist health facilities when disasters interrupt power and phone service.
