AG has healthcare workers arrested

LTC Liability Monitor, August 2, 2006

The Louisiana attorney general (AG) who brought negligent homicide charges against the owners of a nursing home where 34 people drowned during Hurricane Katrina is in the spotlight again. In mid-July he ordered the arrests of a doctor and two nurses, whom he accused of killing four hospital patients with drug injections in the desperate days after Hurricane Katrina, reported The New York Times. The AG asserts that the doctor and the nurses deliberately killed people who they thought were too weak to evacuate the facility. Supporters of the healthcare workers say they are being used as scapegoats for delays in evacuating a flooded hospital, according to the Times.
