Mistrial may lead to new trial in wrongful-death case
LTC Liability Monitor, August 2, 2006
A family who filed a wrongful-death suit may get a new trial. The attorney for the family said he'll push for a new trial after the jury couldn't agree on a verdict, reported the Associated Press (AP). The judge declared a mistrial after the jury failed to reach a verdict in the civil case after three-and-a-half hours of deliberations, the report reads. A family member filed suit against Beverly Enterprises Inc. and related companies for the June 2003 death of her father at a McComb, MS, nursing home, according to the AP.
