How the CDC can help your OSHA compliance plan
Did you know that bookmarking key CDC documents in your browser could win you points during an OSHA inspection? The OSHA bloodborne pathogen standard mandates that employers follow the latest U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) guidelines for the management of occupationally acquired bloodborne pathogen infections. In the OSHA document, Enforcement Procedures for the Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, the compliance officer will investigate whether the employer knows the contents of the CDC guidelines. Having these bookmarked will make it easy for reference when OSHA comes to call.
So what are the documents OSHA is looking for that are lab related?
- Guidelines for Preventing the Transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Healthcare Settings, December 30, 2005
- Guideline for Hand Hygiene in Healthcare Settings, October 25, 2002
