Task force to address future of outpatient centers
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, July 25, 2006
Massachusetts plans to create a task force to address the future of imaging and surgical centers, according to The Patriot Ledger.
The state has looked at imposing a three-year moratorium on allowing physicians to open such facilities and also considered allowing the state Inspector General to determine the affect of such facilities on the state's healthcare, but will instead turn to a 16-member group that includes leaders from state agencies and businesses to help determine the future of these facilities.
The group will begin meeting in October, and is expected to issue a report to the legislature by July 2007, according to The Patriot Ledger.
