PTs may see increase in payment with new fee schedule

Medicare payment for outpatient physical therapy services could change significantly in 2007 under proposed regulations issued yesterday by CMS, according to PT Bulletin Online.
The proposal includes substantial increases in payment for "evaluation and management" services for physicians. In the rule, CMS provides a comprehensive review of work relative value units and proposes a change in the methodology for calculating practice expenses, including the costs of personnel, supplies, equipment, and rental payments.
