AAASC issues State Advocacy Updates
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, July 11, 2006
The American Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (AAASC) issued two editions of its State Advocacy Update over the last few weeks.
The June 26 edition highlights recent legislation activity, including the passage of a bill in the Louisiana Senate that "discourages ASC development within a 25 mile radius of a rural hospital." The bill says that any ASC developed within this 25 mile-radius will require the rural hospital to hold majority ownership in the facility.
The July 3 edition summarizes efforts by the AAASC to improve its state advocacy program and strengthen support of state ambulatory surgery center leaders and their initiatives.
