Medicare announces temporary payment freeze in September

Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, July 11, 2006

Providers and physicians filing claims September 22-September 30 will receive payment October 2, the first day of the new fiscal year, according to a statement issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The nine-day payment freeze is stipulated by Section 5203 of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2006. CMS will not pay interest on these delayed payments.
