AMA releases member survey results
Physician Practice Advisor, July 4, 2006
The results include the following:
- 84% of members favored advocating for a tax credit of up to $50,000 per physician to help cover the financial cost of implementing electronic medical records
- 77% of members agreed that the AMA should advocate the introduction of legislation that opposes the use of "blended rates" by private insurers or government agencies attempting to limit reimbursement to physicians
- 83% said medical schools should be encouraged to incorporate into their curriculums a knowledge and understanding of the importance of medical skills, ethics and professionalism, total patient care, systems-based practice, and the importance of achieving and maintaining certification
