The number of medical schools requiring PDAs increasing
E-Health Trend Watch, June 23, 2006
Brown University has joined the list of medical and nursing schools that require students to buy and use personal digital assistants (PDA). Faculty and students say the technology saves time, helps them provide better care, and reduces medical errors. The University of Michigan, University of Texas, and the University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine also require PDAs.
The goal of using PDAs is to teach students the value of using up-to-date information to treat patients. PDAs allow students to update their software weekly rather than purchase books that are outdated by the time they are in the bookstore.
