Study: PT may help with infertility in women
Rehab Private Practice Alert, June 21, 2006
Physical therapy may be responsible for 167 women avoiding surgical infertility treatment to become pregnant, according to two recent studies published in the journal Medscape General Medicine.
A group of PTs believe therapy helps open up the fallopian tube in some infertile women. In one of the studies, 71% of the participants had a natural pregnancy.
The second study showed that women receiving the therapy prior to undergoing invitro fertilization had a 67% success rate of pregnancy compared to the 41% rate in the control group.
The therapy uses the Wurn Technique to treat the women using no drugs or surgery.
