The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will post payment information for common elective procedures performed in ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) later this summer, and will then post information about common hospital outpatient and physician services this fall, according to the CMS Web site.
Medicare recently posted payment information for 30 common elective procedures performed in hospitals as part of President Bush's healthcare initiative intended to promote healthcare affordability and accessibility.
This information is categorized by state and county and offers a range in the prices of these elective procedures, the number of cases handled by the hospitals, and the national average payment for the procedure.
