Colorectal cancer screening available via Internet
E-Health Trend Watch, June 9, 2006
DNA Direct has developed a non-invasive colon cancer detection test. According to the San Francisco-based company, the test is four times more likely to detect the presence of cancer than current fecal occult blood tests. The test is targeted at patients who may be hesitant about colorectal screenings even though 90% of colon cancers are curable when detected early. Test results are usually available within four to six weeks. Consumers receive personalized reports, which include test results and a letter to be shared with their physician. The company also offers other direct-to-consumer testing products online.
