MMA honors marketer of the year
Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, June 9, 2006
Holley Malia, director of global brand management at Santa Barbara, CA-based medical device maker Inamed, won this year's Medical Marketing Association Medical Marketer of the Year Award, which honors the best and brightest professionals in the field of medical marketing. She was chosen for her work marketing Lap-Band, a surgical alternative to gastric bypass surgery. Market research showed low consumer awareness of the product-a barrier to widespread adoption. She designed a multi-component marketing program that ultimately led to 100,000 new leads and doubled the number of Lap-Band surgeries performed each week.
