More doctors beef up marketing efforts
Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, June 9, 2006
Driven by higher costs and inspired by direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical advertisements, an increasing number of doctors are hiring publicists to increase business, according to a recent article in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Marketing experts say medicine is becoming a more consumer-driven business, with patients demanding drugs they see advertised in the media and wanting to be treated by doctors with name recognition. As a result, doctors are seeking help from public-relations firms to increase marketability.
