ASC community takes on Washington
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, June 6, 2006
Members of the ambulatory surgery center (ASC) community, including administrators and physician owners, were in Washington yesterday and today meeting and lobbying for support for ASC legislation, according to a press release from the American Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (AAASC).
The effort, organized by the AAASC for its Washington Leadership Conference, was expected to see large delegations sent from California, Texas, and Florida, with ten other states sending smaller delegations, according to Craig Jeffries, AAASC executive director.
"As CMS prepares to implement a new payment system for [ASCs], our industry leaders continue to seek support from their elected representatives for legislation that will guide CMS in the effort," Jeffries said in the press release.
Speakers at the conference were expected to include Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), chair of the Senate Finance Committee, Representative Michael Burgess, MD (R-TX), and CMS Deputy Administrator Herb Kuhn.
