A corrections officer was injured after a suspect tried to escape from Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH) in Miami, CBS 4 Miami reports. A man arrested on charges of burglary complained about a medical condition to the arresting officer and was brought to the emergency room at JMH.
The man asked to use the bathroom while being treated in shackles. There he allegedly assaulted the monitoring corrections officer, fled the emergency department, and got as far as the hospital courtyard before being apprehended by JMH security.
The corrections officer spent the night at JMH for observation and was released the following morning.
