Hospitals report improved quality from IT

Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, May 26, 2006

Findings of a recent study suggest that Information Technology (IT) has improved quality at medical institutions, according to a release from the Princeton, NJ-based research firm Mathematica Policy Research, Inc.

Researchers surveyed hospital executives from facilities nationwide. Three-fourths of hospital leaders surveyed said IT had been an important factor in approving quality. In addition, 71% of that group said more timely clinical information, diagnosis, and treatment were additional benefits of IT, according to the release.
