Site to auction product placement deals
Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, May 19, 2006
A new subscription-only Web site called Embed will host auctions for product placement opportunities, according to an article in USA Today. The site will match marketers with producers of television shows, movies, music, and video games that accept this form of advertising. The marketplace, created by Los Angeles-based firm NextMedium, will also offer buyers access to information such as a ratings data.
One controversial aspect of the site: Deals struck there will be kept confidential. Critics of the trend say undisclosed product placement is dishonest advertising.
