Former SNF employees in Indiana face charges
LTC Liability Monitor, May 18, 2006
Two former employees of an Indiana nursing home were indicted on neglect charges this week, according to the Marion, IN Chronicle-Tribune. The charges stem from an investigation into Northgate Health Care Center that revealed one 62-year-old resident was left alone long enough for human waste to re-enter his body. The indictments for former Northgate director of nursing Zanna Paul and former administrator Sandra Andersen followed a year long criminal investigation by several agencies, including the state attorney general.
Northgate's current administrator, Nancy Rudy, took over in December 2004, two months after the incident. She told the Chronicle-Tribune the facility achieved total compliance with state regulators as of January 15, 2006.
