Canada invests to develop e-health standards
EHR Connection, May 9, 2006
Canada has invested nearly $22 million to develop e-health standards so Canadian hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies will be able to share patient information, reports Government Health IT.
To get the ball rolling, the Infoway, the federally-funded nonprofit that heads up Canada's e-health effort, formed a standards collaborative and will spend $8 million in the next 18 months to support and maintain standards. The organization will need to obtain additional funding in two years to support its mission, according to Government Health IT.
