NYC docs will receive EHRs
EHR Connection, May 9, 2006
One thousand New York City doctors will receive EHR capabilities by 2008 thanks to a $27 million contribution from the city. Community health centers that are participating in the EHR program are contributing an additional $13 million.
In other news, 500 physicians will receive e-prescribing software and tools as part of a statewide pilot program in Louisiana. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana will support the pilot, which will begin recruiting participants in May and could begin as early as June. Physicians will receive a wireless handheld device, a wireless connection, and e-prescribing capabilities, training, service, and support for up to a year.
