CMS sets Medicare enrollment requirements
Rehab Private Practice Alert, May 3, 2006
CMS will require providers and suppliers of Medicare services to revalidate their enrollment information in order to maintain their billing privileges under final regulations the agency issued in April, according to PT Bulletin Online.
CMS issued the final rule that consolidates current regulations and more clearly defines what Medicare expects from providers and suppliers enrolling in the Medicare program.
The new rule goes into effect June 20 and supplements existing regulations by introducing the revalidation process and a plan for integrating site visits as part of the enrollment validation process.
It also sets out timeframes for notifying Medicare of any changes to the enrollment information, PT Bulletin reported.
CMS expects to make electronic enrollment applications available in 2007. Go to www.hcpro.com/content/57585.cfm to read the full final rule.
