Man escapes sex-offender treatment center

Healthcare Security Weekly, April 24, 2006

Michael Dale Benson, convicted of rape and kidnapping in 1989, squeezed through a narrow hole in a window to escape a sex-offender treatment center in St. Peter, MN last week, Pioneer Press reports.

In 1993, Benson was deemed a sexually dangerous person and committed to Minnesota's sex-offender treatment program. He is still on the run, keeping Easter churchgoers and town residents on edge.

The convict allegedly stole a 1997 green Ford Crown Victoria bearing the license plate MXB 801 and is believed to have fled the state. Authorities are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
