Study finds barriers to patient-centered care

- 64% of physicians always or often provide same-day appointments
- 18% of physicians use e-mail to communicate with patients
- 54% of physicians send reminder notices about preventive or follow-up care
- fewer than 25% of primary care physicians (PCPs) currently use electronic medical records
- 36% of PCPs and 20% of specialists receive data based on patient surveys
