PEI launches electronic health information system
E-Health Trend Watch, April 14, 2006
A new electronic health record system was launched in Prince Edward Island, Canada. The system, developed and maintained by Cerner, is a single-source computer record that gives doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and emergency workers the ability to electronically access patient information, such as medical test results and medication history. The new system will link doctors' offices, hospitals, and pharmacies. The system is expected to take about a year to complete.
