Campaign will teach patients about healthcare delivery

Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, April 7, 2006

A coalition of physician groups has launched a public education campaign designed to help patients understand the healthcare delivery process and become better advocates for themselves and more aware of their treatment. The coalition, called New Jersey Physicians for Quality Medicine, will start the campaign by putting posters and pamphlets in doctors' offices and hospitals and hopes to later include paid print and radio ads.

One of the goals of the campaign is to educate patients about the roles of different healthcare professionals who participate in their care and to emphasize that it is the physician who manages their medical care and makes critical decisions on diagnosis and treatment.
