Healthcare Security Weekly, April 10, 2006

Authorities in two counties arrested two Decatur (IL) men, who allegedly stole more than $200,000 worth of high-tech medical equipment from hospitals, the Associated Press reports.

According to Urbana and Decatur police, the men were part of a theft ring that specialized in equipment taken from hospitals in Champaign-Urbana, Springfield, Decatur, and Bloomington.

A hospital security camera shows the two men stealing a computer monitor and a cart holding a large defibrillator.
