Study: Patients rank U.S. last in healthcare

Despite having the highest healthcare expenditures per capita, the United States ranked last healthcare quality in a recent study by The Commonwealth Fund that surveyed patients in Australia, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, the U.K., and the United States.

The United States received the top ranking for effectiveness of healthcare and was third with regard to timeliness.

However, the authors of the study warn against relying solely on patients' perceptions to rank healthcare. "Patients' assessments might be affected by their experiences and expectations, which could differ by country and culture," the authors wrote in the report.
